Toddler Loves Books
Today I was working the reference desk when a mom and her toddler came up to the desk. I helped the mom find a biography. Meanwhile the child kept repeating "I need a book. I need a book!"
It was so cute!

High School
So today I went to the high school to drop off some stuff for work. I intentionally did not go at noon because I didn't want to go during lunch time. So I went at 2:00.
That was a problem. Because apparently school ends at 2:15. Oh the anxiety of being in a high school again. My dodging skills are not up to par anymore.
I don't want to repeat that experience for a very long time!

Extreme Sheep Herding
I went to the Soldier Hollow Classic again this past Labor day to watch the championship sheep herders. It was a fun time as usual.
Today I came across this Extreme Sheep Herding video and had to share!

Why do we lie?
Why do we lie? I'm not talking about major lies here. I'm talking about things like this:
When someone asks "How are you?" and you answer "Fine" when everything is not fine.
Or when I ask someone not to use their cell phone on the 2nd floor of the library, often after they hang up they apologize and I reply "It's okay" when really it is not okay.
I'm just curious if you have any ideas why we lie on occasions like this...

Videos
Here are a couple of cute videos of my nephew! Anytime he hears music...he dances!
Cruz says "What's that" constantly! It's cute. I continually answered his questions. I don't know that Brendan and Tatem liked me encouraging him though!
We went to downtown Seattle on Saturday and at the end of one of the piers a band was playing. Cruz decided to do a dance. You can also see his monkey leash in this picture. He does pretty good with it and only face plants occasionally! This was also the day Cruz had a faux hawk. He was pretty stylin'.

Classic Television
I watched a couple of episodes of "The Cosby Show" last night. That show never fails to make me happy!

Bragging just a little
I got a 4.0 this past winter semester.
And on a completely unrelated note, I saw this video on my friends blog and loved it! Just thought I would share.

A Whole New Me
Since I blogged last a lot has happened.
I moved out of the house that I've been living in for nearly 3 years, to a condo by the stadium.
I finished my 4th semester of grad school and now have a 2.5 week break before my summer class begins.
After nearly 5 years working part time, I've been hired as a full time librarian!
I seem to make major changes in my life all at once instead of one thing at a time!
Life sure is busy, but I love it!

Bumper Sticker
I was driving home tonight when I noticed the car in front of me had a bumper sticker. It read "Voldemort Votes Republican" for some reason that just really made me laugh!
You can get this bumper sticker for your very own here.

Classics
So the genre study we are doing at work for April and May is on Literary Fiction and Classics.
I'm not a big fan of the classics, although admittedly I haven't read very many of them. So I am looking for suggestions of what to read. What have been your favorite classics to read? Which ones did you hate?
And yes, I'm just going to admit right now (I feel like a high schooler saying this!) that the shorter the book the better (although if it is a really good story I can probably do a longer one) since I have a lot of other things to do at the moment.
Thanks for your help and I look forward to your suggestions!

Ouch
Pretty much every day that I blow dry my hair I hit myself in the head with my blow dryer. You would think that I would learn to not make jerking motions that close to my head, but I sure don't!
Does anyone else do this or am I just special?

Funny poem
So I'm trying to memorize this poem to use for my storytelling class (I have to tell 2-3 stories (I'm using a poem as well as 2 stories) for children, 2 stories for teens, and 2 stories for adults). I just thought I'd share this funny poem with all of you!
Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face by Jack Prelutsky
Be glad your nose is on your face,
not pasted on some other place,
for if it were where it is not,
you might dislike your nose a lot.
Imagine if your precious nose,
were sandwiched in between your toes,
that clearly would not be a treat,
for you'd be forced to smell your feet.
Your nose would be a source of dread
were it attached atop your head,
it soon would drive you to despair,
forever tickled by your hair.
Within your ear your nose would be
an absolute catastrophe,
for when you were obliged to sneeze
your brain would rattle from the breeze.
Your nose instead through thick and thin,
remains between your eyes and chin,
Not pasted on some other place--
be glad your nose is on your face!

Chicago!
So I went to Chicago for 4 days a couple of weeks ago. It was so nice to get out of Provo and go on vacation! I went with 2 of my co-workers and ignored homework (for the most part) and loved it!
We did tons of stuff, but here are the highlights with pictures.

We arrived at the top of the Sears Tower at sunset. Beautiful!

President Obama was in town!
We went to the Art Institute of Chicago twice (it was free February!) We saw some awesome artwork.

The bean sculpture (aka Cloud Gate) in Millennium Park.
We went on a walking historic skyscraper tour. It was really interesting.
The Chicago Theater.
The skyline from Navy Pier.
We rode the public transit (elevated trains and subways), went to Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio, the Chicago History Museum, and lots of yummy restaurants.
We had a great time!
Remind me to tell you the story of how we almost missed our plane back to SLC.
